Domain Tip

The domain name is considered the most important part of the domain. It’s the first thing that the visitors will see, which will decide whether they’ll look you up or not. Here’s a domain tip: choose a good domain name.

You can use the following domain tips in choosing a domain name:

  • First domain tip: The shorter the better. If doable, choose a domain name that is under seven characters – excluding the suffix- that is related with your website, because the visitor will have to retain in their memory the name of your website.
  • Avoid using big branded names for your website; it is most likely that they won’t buy your domain; instead you can be charged for using their names on your website.
  • If possible, use the known extension “.com”, because it’s the extension that almost everybody uses when keying in a website. And if you’re using the extension “.com”, it means that your website was established long before.
  • Another domain tip: use recognizable characters. As said before, it will be easier to memorize and be recognized. Symbols and spaces are not permitted in the names of a domain.
  • The name of your domain should be registered as soon as possible. Domain names are selling like hotcakes, so you should register now if you don’t want to get stuck with an unwanted name.
  • You could register the domain names that can be linked to your website, like changing the “.com” to “.net”.  You can abbreviate or shorten the website’s name and register it. Don’t worry, although you registered several names, it will still pertain to your website.
  • Solicit others’ opinions about the names you consider for your website. They can tell you if it’s hard to recognize, if it can be related to your website, etc.

If you already chose a name, and you are not sure if it fits your website; a domain tip? You should still go and register it so that you won’t be snatched by other people.
